When Trent University was founded, it modelled its academic calendar on that of Oxford’s, which included an autumn reading week. Trent’s reading week started on October 23 this year, and Arthur Newspaper Co-Editor Josh Skinner produced this audio-journal about the serene, but also lonely, feel of Trent during reading week, when all but a handful of students stay away from campus.
“Walking around campus is different without the students, equal parts lonely and serene,” Skinner says in the piece. “Trent is undeniably different. The water seems more still, and the breeze that normally whips up across Faryon Bridge somehow more gentle.”
